The Gryphon School, part of a growing multi-academy trust, are recruiting a Senior Finance Officer to join its finance team, to cover internal secondments. The postholder will work collaboratively with the Head of Finance, the Gryphon Finance Manager and the Headteacher to support the school with the preparation of monthly management accounts, financial reporting, budget-setting, accounts reconciliation and cost control.  

Successful candidates will possess or be working toward a recognised qualification in finance such as AAT or equivalent and have an up-to-date working knowledge of financial management and accounting practice. Proficient and confident in the use of Excel spreadsheets is essential and knowledge of the PS Financials accounting software would be advantageous. The ability to gather, collate and analyse financial information and produce clear and concise reports is crucial. Capacity to prioritise, plan and organise themselves to meet the fast-paced and changing business demands of the school is also essential.  

The successful candidate will: 

• Have an up-to-date working knowledge of financial management  and accounting practice 

• Have experience of making informed judgements and decisions  

• Be able to achieve ambitious, challenging goals and targets 

• Have strong organisational skills 

• Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, internal and external stakeholders 

• Be a team player who will go the extra mile and who will enjoy the challenges of this role

Teachers make lessons stimulating and practical and have excellent subject knowledge. They make sure students are very clear about what is demanded of them and how to improve. Students consistently have very good attitudes to learning.  They behave extremely courteously to one another, to teachers and other adults and work well whether collaborating in groups taking part in whole-class activities or on their own.’ Ofsted 2014.
