Senior Inspector, Office of Education Standards
Salary Range: CI$83,280 - $109,296 per annum (USD$101,530 - USD$133,247)
Joining the Office of Education Standards at this time presents a unique opportunity to continuously enhance education quality within the Cayman Islands. The successful candidate will contribute to the improvement of education in the Cayman Islands from a national perspective through the knowledge and understanding of international best practice and rigorous, objective evaluation of all aspects of educational provision and practice.
Inspections on the Cayman Islands have been reformed in recent years. A locally designed self-evaluation and inspection framework has been in place since 2018 which positively incorporates the culture of the Cayman Islands. The Office of Education Standards has responsibility for evaluating diverse educational provisions in the Cayman Islands. Government schools and some of the private schools, follow a British-based curriculum, whilst a smaller number of private schools offer American or IB curriculum.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
We want to hear from you if you meet all of the criteria below.
- A qualified OFSTED/HMI inspector with specialism in mathematics and science and substantial experience in leading external inspections of primary and secondary schools and early years settings.
- A qualified inspector experienced in undertaking accreditation visits to international schools.
- Qualified Teacher Status with a minimum of seven years successful teaching experience with at least five years in a senior management position in a school rated Good or better.
- Successful leadership experience working within a local authority/regional/trust or similar cross-school role.
- Masters level of education.
- Extensive knowledge of current policy issues in the field of education, experience of working with senior leaders and stakeholders to identify and promote education change, and to help define priorities and bring about solutions to compelling organisational challenges within the education sector.
- Excellent analytical and research skills, with the ability to collect and analyse complex material and data, and present it in accessible forms.
- Confident public speaking abilities, with excellent communication skills and the ability to interpret and explain policies and provide advice and assistance to a range of audiences, and the ability to persuade, influence and motivate others.
- The ability to make appropriate decisions independently and work with minimal supervision.

Remuneration and Benefits:
The remuneration package for the successful candidate offers a salary in the range of CI$83,280 - $109,296 per annum.
Salaries are offered without deductions. The Government provides an additional 12% pension contribution and health insurance for employees and their dependents.
Benefits will be determined in accordance with the Public Service Management Act and Personnel Regulations, the Public Service Pensions Law and the CINICO Health Plan. Pension and health benefits are non-contributory.
