It’s critical work and worthy of the best Procurement Team.  As one of our Senior IT Buyers, you will be relentless, determined, focussed and curious.

What will you be doing?

This role will see you taking responsibility for commercial processes which secure value-for-money products and services, supporting the development and the implementation of sourcing strategies. Although every day will be different, the kinds of activities you will regularly be doing include:

  • Working closely with project teams to help define supplier requirements
  • Engaging the market to find the right suppliers
  • Negotiating the commercial principles underpinning supplier engagements
  • Providing ongoing monitoring and support around supplier engagements

What type of person are we looking for?

It’s essential that you have experience in IT procurement, such as hardware, software (dealing with large vendors such as SAP or Oracle), licenses, professional services, coupled with a sound working knowledge of agreements and service levels.  Knowledge of SAP SRM would also be desirable.  Commercial acumen and analytical skills are vital, together with an operational understanding of key commercial legal principles.

You’ll be a self-starter who is flexible and feels comfortable managing stakeholders at all levels.  Collaboration is crucial as our organisation advances through its current digital transformation programme.

Where are we based?

Only a short walk from Cambridge Train Station, our new contemporary office The Triangle has brought everyone together.  Outdoor spaces for relaxation and work include a number of courtyard gardens and facilities, plus employee centric facilities such as a Wellbeing Centre and a Rowing Room, through to a pizza oven and a large subsidised restaurant freshly cooked on site by our own staff.

What is our culture like?

We actively support diversity and inclusion and recognise the importance of creating a culture where everyone feels valued for the contribution they make. However, we also recognise that there is still work to do. That’s why inclusion, combined with well-being, is a vital part of our engagement strategy.

We are a friendly and supportive team, who take the needs of the business very importantly, whilst not taking ourselves too seriously. We recognise that it’s ok to make mistakes as long as you learn to grow from them, and we are there to support each other.  We’d say we are open, collaborative and professional, and are looking for someone who can bring their experiences and help us deliver our future.

Benefits

In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive package of benefits to help with your life both inside and outside of work:
