Solihull Academy is a free school, which opened in April 2018, currently catering for up to 110 Year 9-11 pupils (but expanding from next year) that ensures students across the Local Authority have access to a high-quality alternative educational provision.

Situated in Solihull, just minutes off junction 4 of the M42, the provision Academy provides a safe, well-ordered, caring and highly-supportive learning environment that will deliver high-quality education to students who need a more closely-focused learning solution. The use of high-quality, inspiring teaching and clear, consistent guidance and support plays a pivotal role in helping each child fulfil their maximum potential for growth, self-worth, and self-control.

We are looking for a suitably qualified, self-motivated person to provide a range of technical and general IT support to staff and students within the school. The ability to work independently is essential.

The successful candidate will:

• Provide technical IT support to staff and students

• Detect, diagnose and resolve PC, printer, peripheral and software errors, assisting students and staff on required

• Perform routine checks on PCs and repair when required

• Complete maintenance and system improvement work during the holidays, to ensure systems can be restarted to reduce any impact on users

• Provide technical support, advice and evidence / data to the online safety lead

• Conduct monitoring of staff, student and community users’ activities on Academy devices and systems

• Manage multiple systems such as CCTV, door access control and electronic visitor systems

• Liaise with support companies and suppliers of IT hardware and software to resolve issues with goods or services

• Check system backup on daily basis, fix any faults and report any serious failures to the Principal

• Have good understanding of Windows Server 2016, Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange Server and Windows10 as well as Microsoft 365,  Teams and Email

Application forms should be completed in full online, or via the attached application form, accompanied by a letter of application or to Mr S Steinhaus, Solihull Academy, The Quadrangle, Cranmore Avenue, Shirley, Solihull B90 4LE, or via email.

For further information please contact Stephen Steinhaus, Principal of Solihull Academy, by email to HR@sa.solihull.sch.uk.

Only applications submitted on the academy’s application form will be considered.  Please note that we do not accept CVs.

"Open a school", they said...so we did...

"It’ll be great", they said...And it was, but also the toughest thing professionally any of us have done.

"So many pupils need something different", they said... and they were correct... our students did and do need something different.

Since April 18 we have been on a journey to use the idea of “Alternative” in Alternative Provision as a driver to create a new school for the most vulnerable pupils in the local authority, and the impact and results tell us we are making a real difference.  Prior to our opening our local authority permanently excluded more secondary students than 90% of the rest of the country despite being the wealthiest borough in the West Midlands. So, in a unique partnership between the Local Authority, mainstream school and ourselves, we built a school, provision and curriculum to combat that and ensure the best possible outcomes for highest tariff students in the local authority.  We have developed our school based on 4 specific targets:

-Prevent PEX

-Fewer FTE

-Beat Baseline and/or KS2 targets

-No NEETS

Every decision we make and every action we take is based on these four targets and absolutely child-focused and, from that simple premise, we have created our Academy.  If you are looking for a new challenge and have unconditional positive regard, emotional resilience and utter belief that every child deserves a better future, then maybe we  and, more importantly, our students need you as part of TeamSA.
