Ark Academy is an all-through, state-of-the-art school in Wembley, set against the backdrop of the iconic Wembley Stadium, with excellent transport links

We are looking to recruit a talented, committed and inspiring teacher and leader to the role of Director of Sixth Form. Ark Academy Sixth form opened to its first cohort of pupils in 2016 and has grown into a highly successful and competitive Key Stage 5 provider. The Sixth Form serves as the pinnacle of education for pupils in the lower school while attracting the best and brightest from other schools in the local area. The Sixth Form has built a solid foundation of achievement in ensuring our pupils achieve outstanding results and make excellent progress when compared to their peers nationally. We are committed to ensuring every child is challenged to achieve their maximum potential and have celebrated wonderful successes in seeing our pupils progress to study at the most competitive universities, both Oxbridge and Russel Group and onto the most competitive degree level apprenticeships.  If you are a middle leader looking to make your mark this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Our Sixth form has over 220 students and has an impressive record in providing all students with the highest quality of teaching and experience in Advanced Level subjects.    We have had excellent results with 60% of grades at A*-B in 2018 making Ark one of the best achieving schools in the ARK network and across the country.

Working with a dedicated and motivated Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Sixth Form will be responsible for the strategic planning and will provide effective and inspiring leadership for a committed Sixth Form team.  The post holder will drive forward improvements in teaching and learning, outcomes and the continuous development of our Key Stage 5 provisions, whilst promoting the Sixth Form as a truly holistic educational experience and holding overall responsibility for the maintenance of high academic standards. As part of the Senior Leadership Team you will work together with your colleagues to ensure that the Sixth Form is a fully embedded part of our dynamic all through school, and that our pupils serve as the best role models and inspiration for our younger pupils.

We are very proud of our reputation for academic excellence and also the superb pastoral care our students receive along with the support we provide for the less academically able.  We now want your help to enable us to go beyond outstanding and achieve ‘excellence for all’.

As a member of Ark Academy you will receive extensive professional development geared towards excellence. Weekly sessions designed by those who understand the context of the school, are ensured to cater for our teachers’ every need. In addition, the school provides continual support and career progression. Numerous comprehensive training programmes are available to our staff from NQTs to aspiring middle and senior leaders.

Our successful behaviour policies treat student behaviour not as the responsibility of individual teachers, but of the entire school. This ensures as a teacher at Ark Academy, your time is never wasted dealing with discipline. Our students know what is expected of them, allowing both students and teachers to focus on learning.

As a teacher at Ark Academy, you will be part of Ark, an international charity and one of the UK's most successful multi-academy trusts, with a network of 35 schools in 4 locations across the country.  Benefits of being part of the Ark network include:

  • A salary 2.5% higher than the main scale teacher salaries
  • Twice as many training days as standard and network-wide events with Ark colleagues, held by the best minds in education
