We are seeking to appoint experienced and dynamic leaders to our Livability Education centre, Nash College in Bromley. Candidates will be passionate about increasing the life sum of our learners with additional learning, medical and complex needs.  

 As part of the next exciting chapter of Livability’s strategic development, we have formed Livability Education, which builds on the strengths and expertise of our existing educational provision. Through this directorate, we will realise our vision; to significantly improve the life sum for children, young people and adults with disabilities.  

As we implement this progressive expansion, we are looking for two Assistant Headteachers to join our ambitious Livability Education Leadership Group delivering outstanding quality education for all. 

Our current education provisions include Victoria School, a 3-19 NMS School in Poole, Dorset and Nash College, a 19-25 Independent Specialist College in Bromley, London. Both settings manage a range of complexity of learning need and disability. We are progressing well through the planning stages of developing further provision in the Poole and Bournemouth locality, an exciting project that increases the reach and impact of Livability Education. 

Based at Nash College, you will deliver visible leadership, clear and consistent operational management and have the authority to delegate in the absence of the Deputy Principal and Principal, when required. This role is suitable for candidates hoping to progress to headship in due course.

You will have a specific area of responsibility but be keen to work and learn as part of a wider collaborative team and make contributions on your site and across the Livability Education settings, working closely with the other leaders to enhance their impact and the effectiveness of the provisions.

As an experienced school leader, you will have demonstrable examples of the empowering and enabling leadership qualities and attributes you have used to improve quality, and develop staff teams, all with the core focus on those children or adults you have supported to be successful.

You will also have:

• a proven track record of outstanding classroom practice

• a substantial and successful record as a senior leader of an education settings, achieving successful outcomes for students

• drive, determination, and enthusiasm

• demonstrable qualities and attributes of being open, yet uncompromising in the pursuit of highest quality of education provision

Livability Nash College is an independent specialist further education college for disabled people aged 19-25.

Based in Hayes, Bromley, the college caters for a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) including physical, communication and sensory disabilities, medical conditions or autism, in addition to learning disabilities, from severe to profound.

Our approach places a particular emphasis on ‘Learning Through Living’ – personalised learning, facilitating a range of communication needs, and supporting students in the community and with future vocational opportunities. The Course title is ‘Skills for Adult Life’ and runs for three years with an optional fourth year.

Education at Nash College

For students who are not taking qualifications, study programmes focus on high quality work experience, and on non-qualification activity which prepares them well for employment, independent living, being healthy adults and participating in society.” (SEN Code of practice)’. 

Nash college offers a four strand provision that is personalised for each student using a content and context that is tailored to personal interests and abilities. Where accreditation is thought to be suitable, courses are selected based on impact, on EHCP outcomes and the provision of education at a level than ensures progression from previous learning for each student.
