Our Vision: JCoSS is an academic, aspirational learning community, known and respected for our pioneering spirit, our humanity and our excellent outcomes.

Our Ethos: If you think you know what working in a Jewish school might be like, be ready to think again.  Our outward-looking and pluralist Jewish ethos combines an embrace of open-minded values with a deep love of the varied riches of Jewish tradition.  The staff and leadership team includes different faiths, and none, at all levels, and the school has a culture of purposeful good humour and humanity. We are a faith school like no other.

Our Results: We have a track record of excellent academic results and have consistently achieved a ALPS Grade 2 at KS5 and Grade 2/3 at KS4. Our 2018 figures were typical: over 40% of GCSE grades were at Grade 7 (A) or higher, and well over a quarter of our students achieved 8 Grade 7/A grades or better.  We have averaged +0.4 for Progress 8 in the three years to date, and have been an SSAT Top 10% school for achievement and progress for the last two years.  At A level (also typical) 67% of grades were at B grade or better, and 80% of vocational outcomes were at Distinction or better.  13 students have secured offers from Oxbridge this year, and we regularly send students to Medicine and Vet Science courses too; the great majority of students go to Russell Group or Top 25 Universities.

Staff Benefits: We appoint on potential as well as experience, and we are committed to supporting staff development.  Several non-teaching colleagues have trained with us as teachers; our rich CPL programme includes full induction for new teaching staff including NQTs, NPQH/SL/ML programmes, and financial support for MA courses, Action Research projects and many other opportunities.  Additional responsibilities are always considered for suitable candidates and we offer NQTs employment for the last few weeks of the summer term.  Our admissions policy includes priority places for the children of all staff*. We offer a huge number of wellbeing initiatives and try to find something for everyone. Please see our website to see what we currently do: https://jcoss.org/recruitment/staff-wellbeing-at-jcoss

* (Children, Jewish and non-Jewish, of JCoSS staff who have a permanent contract of employment and have completed two years of service on the last day of the summer term of the academic year prior to application)

Our Location & Community: The school is in beautiful new £48m buildings overlooking the Green Belt.  It is easily accessible from Northern, Piccadilly and Overground rail links and buses run past the entrance.  We attract students from eloquent and supportive communities across North London and Hertfordshire. We are planning an expansion in response to over-subscription.

This Role: Are you looking for a new challenge, perhaps working with students with a primary diagnosis of autism and possible other learning needs?

We are a successful and inclusive school with a dedicated, supportive and forward-thinking autism provision, with over 35 staff members, including Learning Support Assistants,  therapists and Specialist Teachers.

Your main duties will be to support students with their learning both in class and on a more individual basis in the autism provision.  We wish to appoint colleagues who have:

• Experience of supporting students with autism and other learning needs.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.

• The ability to work effectively within a busy team environment.

• Good numeracy, literacy skills and ICT skills.

• Resilience, sense of perspective and sense of humour.

• The ability to lead and manage a small team

• Experience of communicating effectively with parents

• The ability to implement agreed learning activities/teaching programmes and the experience to adjust activities according to students’ needs.

• The ability to promote the inclusion and acceptance of students with autism.

The position would suit those looking to further their experience working with young people, or those considering a teaching career (opportunities exist, for suitable candidates, to be sponsored for teacher training in the future).
