We require a skilled Senior Network Administrator with demonstrated ability to undertake the stable operations of the core College network, telephone, wireless, servers and storage, internet access, network security and backup systems. The Senior Network Administrator will be line managed by the Head of IT.
Main duties include:
Lead on installing, maintaining, supporting, and optimising layer 2 and layer 3 network devices, including but not limited to switches, firewalls and wireless gateway devices, as well as servers running a variety of software.
Lead in implementing technical projects, including hardware and software upgrades of servers and server-applications, replacements thereof, and new system deployment of systems used by curriculum and business support departments.
Work closely with the rest of the IT Services team to ensure that all College devices are fully compliant with College IT Security Policy, lock-down to prevent unauthorised execution of software, changes and tampering.
Deputise for the Head of IT Services for operational management of the IT Department, and will assist with the planning, costing and development of IT Projects.
Line-manage, other members of the IT Team including the Junior Network Operator and Technician.
This role will suit someone who is an independent thinker, who is thorough, and can learn quickly and enjoys a technical challenge. The ideal candidate will also have strong teamwork skills who can be relied upon to play their part to ensure that the overall activities of the team meet the objective of providing a reliable, modern and safe IT experience for our students and staff.
This role will be based at our Ipswich location, but will be required to travel to sites including Halesworth, Leiston and Suffolk Rural (near Otley in Suffolk).
