Description | St Paul's Primary School, Gateshead is seeking a temporary part time (30 hrs) Senior School Officer - Clerical to join the team for 2022. This position will work 4 days a week working 8am to 4pm. St Paul’s Primary School, Gateshead, is a Catholic systemic school in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle, catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. At St Paul's, we aim to foster a love of learning in each child by providing a variety of learning activities and opportunities for students to fulfil their potential in all areas of school life. We provide contemporary future thinking education for children from Redhead, Dudley, Whitebridge, Charlestown East, Mount Hutton and Gateshead. |

Position Requirements | The role, Senior School Officer exists to provide: • a reception service for phone and direct contact externally to and within the school • general office administration including maintaining student records, typing and preparation of documents, ordering of school requisites and administrative support for staff • administration of school financial accounts including student debtors, accounts receivable, reconciling accounts, BAS, supplier payments, maintaining budgets and preparation of reports • support to the school principal |

Essential Criteria | • support the ethos of Catholic education • be able to fulfil the requirements of the Diocesan Faith Education Accreditation Policy • minimum of Certificate III in Accounting / Business or equivalent • evidence of strong performance and quality of work with previous employer(s) • a clear understanding of Microsoft Office Suite • proven knowledge and skills with MS Excel and accounting information systems • strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills • enthusiasm, proactivity and capacity to adapt • ability to work in an environment with competing demands where tasks need to be prioritised • ability to work effectively as part of a team • Your current Working With Children number must be recorded on your application • Applicants will need to comply with the Accreditation to Work Teach and Lead (formerly FEA ) and will need to work towards Accreditation at Category A – Accreditation to work. The applicant must provide evidence of the following: • Current Paid Working with Children Check (WWCC) number. • Proof of Covid vaccination status. |

St Paul’s Primary is a Catholic school that provides Kindergarten to Year 6 education for children in the southern part of Charlestown parish in Newcastle, New South Wales. They foster a strong relationship with the local community and the Mackillop Parish, based on the school motto ‘love one another’.
St Paul’s Primary was established in 1964 by the Sisters of Saint Joseph, with Sister Kilian being the school’s first principle and overseeing the education of just 75 students. Now the school has 235 students in its ten class groups.

The school has ten classrooms as well as a computer lab, a library, a full-size basketball court, a specialised learning support centre and a performance stage with professional lighting and sound equipment.
There are also Windows Tablets for teaching in primary classes and iPads for infant’s classes.
Curriculum
St Paul’s Primary aims to develop a respect for learning and positive attitudes for lifelong education through its curriculum, in addition to basic skills such as English literacy, numeracy, problem solving, scientific and technological skills.
Religious education make up a large part of the school’s curriculum, with all grades having formal religious lessons every day. The students also attended a full school liturgy each week where classes are encouraged to participate in by preparing the ‘sacred space’ and dramatizing Gospel readings.
