The British International School, Riyadh caters for students aged 3-18. 50% of students are British but over 50 nationalities are represented within the student body. The school is accredited by the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) and the Council of International Schools (CIS). The recent British School overseas inspection described the BIS curriculum as “outstanding” and states that “students demonstrate outstanding attitudes, behaviour and personal development. They take a pleasure in their own success and that of others”.  In a recent confidential survey staff overwhelmingly stated that they enjoy working at the school.  We now seek to add to our team.

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional senior school SEN teacher to join our Learning Support team which operates within the Student Services department. The department consists of a senior SEN teacher, two primary SEN teachers, six Learning Support Assistants and numerous Individual Support Assistants.

The candidate should be an outstanding classroom practitioner able to provide support and guidance to teaching staff and parents. 

Candidates should hold a recognised qualification in SEN and have experience in being able to understand the balance between academic and pastoral issues. The SEN role is very much an integral part of wider school life. 

The successful candidate will:

  • be a UK qualified teacher or have qualifications recognised in the UK through the NARIC process;
  • very competently fulfil all Teachers’ Standards as published by the Department of Education in 2012;
  • put students at the heart of the education process;
  • fully support the Mission and ethos of the school;
  • commit enthusiastically to the school’s enrichment program including leading extra-curricular and inter-house activities;
  • be able to use ICT as an effective teaching tool;
  • believe in the values of international and interculturalism in an educational context;
  • work collaboratively with the Director of Student Services and be an integral member of the Student Services team;
  • line manger senior school Learning Support Assistants and Individual Support Assistants;  
  • provide pastoral support and teach senior school students who have learning needs;
  • have qualifications and experience to assess senior school students who are referred to the Learning Support team; 
  • be responsible for managing the senior school IEP provision; 
  • collaborate with the Examinations Officer regarding the preparation of access arrangement documentation;
  • have excellent knowledge of and experience in implementing access arrangements for students in KS3, GCSE and A-level;
  • use student data to drive progress and improve the existing provision.
