Newcastle School for Boys is the only independent school in the north east of England providing continuity of education for boys only from age three to 18. We are passionate about boys’ learning and the development of boys and young men of excellent character.
Boys are challenged and supported by dedicated teachers committed to each individual boy, their learning and character development. We offer an education tailored to boys’ learning needs and underpinned by a strong school ethos.
We are seeking to appoint a part-time (0.6 full-time equivalent) Senior School English teacher from September 2021.
The successful candidate will be a passionate and dynamic teacher able to deliver excellent outcomes across the ability range as well as the ability to:
- Teach up to and including A level. (The ability to deliver sixth form media studies would be an advantage.)
- Build positive and productive relationships with boys.
- Contribute to boys’ character development within and beyond the English subject area.
This is an excellent opportunity to build on the success of a popular subject area. A contribution to the pastoral and lively co-curricular life of the School is expected.

Newcastle School for Boys is the north east region’s only independent school providing education for boys only aged 3 to 18.
Following its formation in 2005 from founding schools Ascham House and Newlands School, Newcastle School for Boys is now one of the top independent schools in the North East. Located in the heart of Gosforth, Newcastle the School now sits as the only 3 to 18, boys-only school in the region.
