Senior Science Technician

Salary: Scale 4 point 7 £20,092 FTE (range 7-11). 

Actual salary £18,496 pa for 40 hours. 

Hours of work: full time position of 40 hours per week available, but those considering part time positions are encouraged to apply 

Hours: flexible. Term time plus 5 training days (39 weeks per year)

Contract: Permanent 

The College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Science Technician to join our friendly, supportive, and outward looking team of teachers and technicians. The post holder will lead a small team of technicians and have oversight of the ways in which lesson resources are prepared and delivered at key stage 3 and 4. They will also play a key role in the preparation of new resources and practical tasks as we move towards opening a sixth form in 2023. Specific responsibilities will include: 

  • Preparing and providing lesson resources and ensuring that systems for delivering these are effective and efficient 
  • Supporting other technicians in developing their skills 
  • Preparing new lesson resources for Key Stage 5 teaching 
  • Taking a lead role in ensuring that health and safety standards are adhered to 
  • Overseeing the maintenance of science equipment 

The successful candidate will be organised and self-motivated, have a high level of accuracy and proficient IT skills. They will enjoy working in a large team and be able to form strong relationships with team members and students. They will be supported in developing their skills and have significant scope to develop their role the lead up to sixth form opening.
