Job overview

SENIOR SCIENCE TECHNICIAN, BOBBY MOORE ACADEMY

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford, London.

£ dependent on experience and responsibilities

Bobby Moore Academy is a new school with traditional values. We believe in the expertise of our teachers and the importance of disciplined behaviour and disciplined thinking in our pupils. Housed in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, ours is an inspirational setting to rival any other in the country.

We are looking for someone special to make a pivotal contribution to the development of our school. We are looking for someone with the drive and ambition to join the Science Department. You will be exceptionally well-qualified and you will have the highest expectations and standards for yourself and your colleagues.

We are unashamedly knowledge-driven in our curricular approach. Our teachers are here to transmit their deep subject knowledge to our pupils, to enthuse them with their passion and put them on the path to university. Our pupils are here to learn. We have the highest expectations and standards of behaviour and conduct and our pupils understand that our high expectations are reflected in our high hopes for their futures.

We are looking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational Senior Science Technician.  Any serious candidates will be committed to attaining the highest standards.   Most of all, you will be genuinely inspired by the chance to put your knowledge and experience to work in a setting that’s been carefully designed and resourced to be among the best of its kind in the country.

Overview

Our aim at Bobby Moore is to become the best school in the country. As a Science Department, we want students to think deeply about our subjects as they make observations about the world around them. Key to this is rich and rigorous practical work, which is what makes the role of Senior Science Technician so crucial to our success.

There will be two main aspects to this role in the short term: building structures and processes to ensure we are ready for the growth that lies ahead, and managing the department’s equipment and resources day to day. As the school grows, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow too, taking on line management responsibilities and taking a leading role in developing our A Level offering.

The ideal candidate will be someone who thinks deeply about what they do, purely because they find it interesting and wish to improve. They will maintain high standards, of themselves and the students; they will get stuff done, efficiently and calmly; and they will become a pillar of a department built on professional trust.
