St Angela’s Ursuline is an ‘outstanding’ Catholic girls’ school with a large mixed Sixth Form. We have an exciting opportunity for a professional who is looking for a new challenge.

The purpose of this role forms a central part of the work of the Science department and the successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Department science teaching staff and other technicians to support, develop, and further extend the work of the department and the experiences of the students. The lead technician will organise - in consultation with the Head of Science - the overall running of the laboratory support systems, oversee the day to day running of the prep room and its associated storage areas, and assist teaching staff in providing a safe and efficient lab technical service.

Responsibilities:

  • To line manage the science technicians and be responsible to the Head of Science for the training and development of all technicians.
  • To ensure the totality of performance is reviewed.
  • To ensure professional development needs are addressed.
  • To be responsible for the maintenance of the science labs, the prep room and the storage areas with respect to equipment levels, wear and tear and general appearance.
  • To be responsible for the maintenance of a high standard of Health and Safety with regard to technical aspects of the department, and to be accountable to the Head of Science for any Health and Safety issues.

St Angela's Ursuline School is a voluntary aided school based in Newham in London for girls aged 11-18. It is a Roman Catholic school.

The school was built in 1862 by the sisters of the Ursuline order, inspired by the vision of their founder and the school’s namesake.

Approximately 90% of the school’s population are from ethnic minority backgrounds.
