We are recruiting for the brand new and exciting position of Senior Talent Attraction Manager, and we are interested to hear from experienced digital marketers and content producers who are looking for an opportunity that offers autonomy, freedom to innovate and the chance to lead on developing an attraction strategy for the Federation.

The post will cover all areas of digital marketing including:

  • Social media marketing
  • PPC marketing
  • Email marketing
  • Text messaging
  • Search engine optimization
  • Content marketing

We are looking for a talented and creative individual who is passionate about marketing, and communications, and who has a genuine interest to work in the Education sector. This is a fantastic opportunity to see the direct impact of how effective marketing and recruitment advertising can play a key role in the continued success of our academies.

About Us

The Harris Federation mission is to transform education in London so that every student in a Harris Academy receives an outstanding education. Closing the gap between children from disadvantaged backgrounds and their peers has always been a core mission. The founder, Chairman and sponsor of the Harris Federation, Lord Harris of Peckham, opened our first school in 1990. We now have 51 primary and secondary academies across London and Essex, employing over 5,000 staff and educating some 40,000 young people.

Our Talent Attraction & Resourcing (TA&R) Team is responsible for the Federation talent acquisition strategy and working to promote employment opportunities and attract talent through our People, Culture, Vision & Values and Employer Value Proposition (EVP). The team oversees and coordinates the end-to-end recruitment process from attraction campaigns to new starter onboarding.

This is a new position within the central TA&R team and would suit a creative individual who can work both strategically and hands on in order to develop a long term employer brand strategy, and create highly engaging, innovative and impactful digital marketing campaigns. Working with the wider team and other departments, you will design and promote high-quality digital content across a range of recruitment activities, including staff recruitment (leadership, teaching and non-teaching), CPD/professional development, teacher training (ITE), events and student admissions.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Promoting our people, culture and success stories through informative, easily accessible content sits at the heart of our digital marketing strategy. We aim to deliver a seamless candidate journey and a best-in-class experience through clear and timely digital communications.

As the marketing specialist in the team, you will lead on creating and developing a range of marketing activities, content and communications to enhance our brand reach, and evolve our strategy to help identify, attract, engage and secure talent in line with the wider teams objectives. Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing a Digital Marketing strategy and goals in line with the TA&R team objectives
  • Implementing the compliant and effective use of e-mail marketing to generate candidate leads and improve conversions
  • Developing a content marketing strategy to improve the candidate experience both at application stages and onboarding/induction
  • Developing powerful content, resources and channels to communicate Federation vision & values, ethos, culture and promote our Employer Value Proposition
  • Building persuasive, evidence-based cases for marketing activity across new and existing channels
  • Researching audiences, preferences and discovering trends in order to optimise marketing and re-marketing
  • Developing the use of programmatic and paid social (PPC) campaigns and deliver campaigns that drive ongoing engagement and remarketing across all our platforms (LinkedIn, Google, Facebook/Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, etc.)
  • Regularly monitoring campaigns to ensure they are running as per best practice and optimised to meet targets and budgets
  • Building strong and trusted relationships with leadership teams in academies to help develop and deploy approaches to more local marketing and promoting within the local community
  • Writing and curating content (case studies, interviews and insights) to produce regular blog articles, news letters and informative digital content to showcase our people and achievements across the Federation
  • Developing organic SEO optimisation strategies that increase the company website’s search engine results rankings

Qualifications & Experience

The role would suit someone with a creative flair and who has a love for all forms of media (written, video, social and podcasts). We want someone who is passionate about creating engaging, informative and persuasive digital marketing campaigns and great content. We are looking for:

  • A passionate marketer who believes in the power of creativity to help attract and engage talent
  • Someone who is highly motivated to utilise their skills and experience to help make a difference
  • A great communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Someone who is collaborative and enjoys working with people
  • Someone who is knowledgeable and passionate about education, and has an interest in employer branding, communications and talent acquisition
  • Someone with an innovative mind-set and approach to tackling problems
  • Someone who is able to multitask and work on multiple projects whilst prioritising objectives without getting flustered
  • Someone to thrive in an autonomous (but supportive) environment, proactive and can think outside the box
  • Someone with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • A critical reader of the press and existing content and able to see what’s missing or not being talked about

The Harris Federation is a not-for-profit educational charity with almost 25 years of education experience in and around London. Our primary, secondary, all-through and sixth form academies have an international reputation for delivering a step change in education standards.

In joining a Harris Academy, you will be working with some of the country’s most exceptional teachers, support staff and leaders. There are frequent opportunities for internal exchange and promotion; our CPD is regularly described as Outstanding; and we have a package of staff benefits that rivals the most competitive of other professions.

Each Harris Academy is led and run by its senior leaders and has its own curriculum and way of doing things. What our Academies share, however, is a commitment to giving their children and teenagers an excellent education within a happy, caring and supportive environment.

There are Harris Academies in many different settings – inner city and suburban – but they are all within a maximum ninety minute commute from each other. This enables a highly collaborative structure, with on-call support from the Harris Federation.
