Job overview

South Bank Engineering UTC is seeking to appoint a senior technical support officer who will be responsible for leading the technical support of high quality engineering, science and employer projects at the UTC. Opened in September 2016, the school specialises in engineering and STEM for 14-19 year olds, offering a non-traditional education built on high academic standards, learning in a technical context, close links to employer and university partners and a professional environment making use of outstanding facilities and resources.

As a UTC, we offer GCSEs and A levels, and the opportunity for our students to learn valuable technical and employability skills. Our education plan ensures our students are on track to make outstanding progress, reach high levels of academic attainment and develop the skills essential for career success. London South Bank University is our sponsor and we are co-sponsored by Skanska UK, King's College and Guys and St Thomas' NHS Trusts who support our work closely in offering real-life employer challenge projects, developing authentic, contextualised learning.

We will move into state of the art purpose-built new buildings in September 2017 and have access to outstanding specialist equipment and facilities including advanced computing, 3D print and robotics. Our students are fully supported through high-quality, personalised pastoral care.

This role is for a technician able to deliver high quality support for the technical curriculum within a strong team and will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to provide effective management of a technical team as well as support highly motivated, technically-minded young people.

The successful candidate will be part of a close-knit, small team initially and will be required to be highly adaptable and flexible.  Alongside this, the UTC offers first class career development opportunities, excellent CPD, wonderful students, an innovative education vision, great links to industry and higher education and leading-edge facilities. You have the opportunity to play a central role in creating an exceptional UTC – if this sounds like the role for you, we’d love to hear from you!

Candidates are warmly encouraged to attend one of our Thursday Open Mornings.  You may contact us to book in for a tour or to arrange a confidential discussion regarding the role by emailing info@southbank-utc.co.uk.

Application Deadline: 4pm on Friday 30th June 2017, or sooner for outstanding candidates.
