Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a school leader looking to make a positive impact on the lives of thousands of children and young people.

As our new Service Manager for Schools and Early Years Strategy & Performance, you’ll take the lead in ensuring Calderdale provides the very best challenge and support to our schools and settings.

As a key influencer in our Education and Inclusion service, you will work closely with our school-facing and central teams to enable the delivery of sector-leading services for youngsters across the borough.

That means not only excelling in the delivery of our statutory responsibilities, but also further developing a traded education service, one that is attuned and responsive to the challenges our schools face.

Our vision for Calderdale 2024 is simple but ambitious. It is a place where every young person can reach their potential – a place where talent and enterprise can thrive, and where people and communities care for and support each other.

To help us get there, we need a proven educationalist who can motivate, inspire and lead.

To be successful, you’ll need to engage colleagues and stakeholders at all levels – quickly demonstrating credibility through your own track record of delivering results as a school leader.

A natural networker, you’ll be comfortable with headteachers, senior and middle leaders alike, as well as governors and colleagues working across the wider children and young people’s agenda.

You’ll bring the vision to develop our role as an enabler and broker for high quality services – connecting the dots across Calderdale to ensure excellent practice is harnessed for the benefit of our entire system – particularly for the vulnerable learners who need us most.

It’s important that you offer a combination of technical knowledge and leadership ability – both an understanding of the accountability frameworks that schools and settings operate in, as well as the people management and communication skills to inspire and unite our teams.

Whatever your specific background, it’s crucial that you share our values and ambition for excellence – with a personal commitment to lifelong learning.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a committed team who are already delivering great results. You’ll find experienced colleagues ready to support you at every step of the way and we guarantee you’ll enjoy the opportunity to shape and influence how we work together going forward.
