Job overview

We seeking to appoint a well qualified and experienced Teacher of Drama to join our bank of sessional tutors. 


Rochester Independent College was founded as ‘Rochester Tutors’ in 1984 and continues to offer exam focussed tuition. As well as a full secondary education from Year 7 to sixth form, the College specialises in intensive one year A level and GCSE courses and short retake courses. There is no uniform and students and teachers are on first name terms. The average class size is 8. We have 360 students from the age of 11 and offer a fresh alternative to traditional independent education. We have 130 boarding students each year from 40 different countries.


Hours will be on an as and when basis up to a maximum of 24 hours per week this academic year. All teaching takes place on our Star Hill campus in central Rochester. 


This opportunity would suit tutors and teachers with good academic qualifications. We particularly welcome tutors who have experience of GCSE and BTEC Drama. QTS is not a requirement. 


Hourly rate: £20.00 – £55.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

About Rochester Independent College

Rochester Independent College is a fee-paying co-educational secondary with sixth form in Medway. There are 380 pupils on the school roll with 120 boarders. The college opened in 1984. The school’s mascot is the Flying Pig. The town of Rochester is located 30 miles away from London. The school operates minibus services across Kent. There is no uniform at the school, and teachers are addressed by their first names.
