Job overview

We are looking for a professional and well-organised team player to support the school in providing a safe, secure and well-maintained site, as part of a friendly and welcoming team.  Prior experience is preferable, but not essential.  

Core purpose of the Site Assistant 

Responsible for all aspects of site security and maintenance including but not limited to; 

• ensuring the site and school environment is safe, secure and well maintained at all times

• assist with all aspects of site health and safety including record keeping and personal training

• ensure completion of all site helpdesk requests

• provide help and support for lettings

• assist with porterage

• perform minor repairs as required

• other tasks as directed by the Facilities Manager

• to be responsible for the facilities in the absence of the other members of the Site Team.

Accountabilities: 

The post holder will: 

• report to the Facilities Manager 

• work closely with SLT, teaching and administration staff

• liaise with other members of the Site team

General Responsibilities (all staff):

• perform duties and attend meetings as required

• participate in the school's performance management scheme

• undergo in-service training where required

• contribute to the school's pastoral system

• observe and implement current school policies and good practice

• carry out such particular duties as the Headteacher may reasonably direct from time to time


Person Specification 

Experience (desirable but not essential) 

• Experience of carpentry/DIY

• Experience working in a fast paced environment

• Experience and good proficiency in ICT including Word


Attributes 

• Ability to multitask and work independently

• Strong communication and organisation skills  

• Ability to manage own time effectively

• Ability to adhere to working procedures and policies within the school environment 

• Ability to work as a team or individually as required 

• Outstanding customer service and drive for excellence 

The duties and responsibilities in this job description are not restrictive and the post-holder may be required to undertake any other duties that may be required from time to time.  Any duties should not however substantially change the general character of the post.

Notes 

The post holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Child Protection Policy Statement at all times. If, in the course of carrying out the duties of the post the post holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the school s/he must report any concerns to his/her Line Manager or the School’s Child Protection Officer.
