Hawes Down Primary School is looking to appoint a hardworking, energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated and reliable person, with a can-do and customer focused attitude, to join our team as Site Manager.

This is a key position within our organisation, requiring a proactive and well organised individual who can effectively manage various aspects of school maintenance and health and safety procedures.

Previous Site Manager experience would be beneficial, although a high level of technical ability in routine maintenance, handy-person skills and managing premises projects is essential.

The successful candidate will:

- Have a good working knowledge of facility management, including Health and Safety Law and Fire Safety Law;

- Be honest, reliable and hardworking and able to work using their own initiative

- Have good DIY and premises skills and be able to carry out minor repairs and jobs competently

 -Be willing to attend relevant courses to develop their expertise

 -Be good at prioritising and meeting deadlines

 -Be able to maintain accurate maintenance records and site risk assessments;

- Have effective communication and organisation skills;

- Have good computer skills [e.g. excel, word, outlook];

- Take pride in helping to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation and health and safety at all times.

- Be a motivated individual who is multi-skilled and adaptable, passionate about and competent in all areas linked to ensuring site security, site safety, site maintenance and site housekeeping

The overall purpose of this role is the management and development of the school site and premises. This will include:

- Responsibility for ensuring that the premises are fit for purpose and meet the requirements of health and safety legislation and the curriculum

- Responsibility for the management of contractors

- Monitoring / directing any site staff (cleaners / grounds maintenance)


- Responsibility for all school premises issues as they arise

- Developing a premises and maintenance plan

- Be a principal key holder and attend emergency call outs as necessary.

- Be responsible for security, including the opening and closing of the school premises and grounds to meet the routine and non-routine requirements of the building occupants.

- Carry out in-house statutory testing as required
