Job overview

Make It Different Trust are looking for a skilled and experienced 'all rounder' to join our team and provide general day to day support, facilities management, animal care, driving and caretaking in our new, purpose built Free School, opening in September 2024.

The successful applicant will need to be flexible and resourceful, and you would expect when joining a small team, and will provide a range of services to school staff and students during the school day and beyond. A typical day might involve opening the building, managing the car park during drop offs in the morning, sourcing and laying out resources for food tech lessons, accepting deliveries, managing small repairs, taking groups of students to observe and feed the on site animals and wildlife and then helping with lunch clearing. The end of the day will bring the supervision of the cleaning team who will prepare the school for the following day, and locking down the building.

Due to the size of the team, there will be a requirement for a split shift work pattern in the first 18 months, but this will be discussed further at interview and can in part be negotiated. There is also a need for the successful applicant to act as the main designated keyholder, and this is reflected in the salary level for the role.
