Why Work With Us

The White Horse Federation (TWHF) is a not-for-profit multi-academy trust that supports and sponsors many primary, secondary and special schools across Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Swindon, Oxfordshire and Berkshire.

Its shared vision for excellence through partnership means it is also committed to keeping the best of what makes a local school great – in other words, the type of schools where TWHF colleagues would be proud to send their own children.

TWHF combines a relentless drive for academic excellence with a shared moral purpose and shared values, while ensuring that fun and happiness are a key attribute of each of its schools. TWHF believes that partnership-working with its schools, pupils and their parents, as well as the wider community, helps creates the best possible outcomes for all children.

TWHF empowers its colleagues through support, training and career opportunities to recruit and retain outstanding staff who are leaders in their field. That way TWHF can ensure that every student achieves their full potential, regardless of background, culture, heritage or ability.

TWHF recognises the benefit of having a diverse workforce and is committed to building a team which reflects diversity from the communities it serves. TWHF values the contributions from all staff from a wide range of different backgrounds and actively seeks to promote an environment that is free from discrimination and harassment; which at the same time supports fair promotion and cultural acceptance. Under the provision of the Equality Act 2010, TWHF welcomes applications from everyone and operates a recruitment process which is fair and does not discriminate against or disadvantage anyone because of their age, disability, gender reassignment status, marriage or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, race or nationality, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

The White Horse Federation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.   If successful for this position you will be expected to apply for a disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service before appointment is confirmed.   References will be sought on shortlisted candidates before interview.

More about Nyland School

To give a flavor of the school, please see the following extract from the recent Community News magazine which is issued to all parents.

The school motto; NYLAND: A FRESH START EVERY DAY. In fact, we believe in this message so much that all the staff now wear a green wrist band with it printed on!

At the heart of what we do at Nyland is a core belief that every Nyland child deserves to be treated with renewed belief and respect that they will be successful. It does not matter what ‘history’ there might be from the previous day, month, year or school. The expectation is that it will a good day for them. A Green Day! Moving on from actions or words that have happened before is not something that comes easily to children or adults. In fact, we could all do better at repairing and rebuilding relationships, forgiving each other and trying better next time.

Many of the children have arrived at Nyland because they find this hard to achieve and do not easily fit into the ‘conformity box’. Nyland is a ‘special school’ because it works with special children who need a special (different) approach to making a success of their life. We still have high expectations for learning and behavior but the ‘mainstream’ view of how we should manage and deal with this has not worked. So why try to repeat it?! We strive to give the children the very best learning opportunities that will help them make progress in their learning, emotional, social and behaviour needs. We do this by treating them as unique individuals who need to be given a fresh start without resentment but with care, love and the appropriate attention. Today and the rest of the year will be good for the children and staff at Nyland Campus

About the White Horse Federation

Nyland School is a founder member of The White Horse Federation, which is a thriving and successful Multi Academy Trust supporting Primary, Secondary and Special Schools.

We genuinely believe in partnership working with our schools, the pupils and their parents and the wider community each serves to create the best possible outcomes for our children.

We also believe that our colleagues are among the finest in the country and we are proud to empower them through support, training and career opportunities. With such outstanding staff we are able to ensure every student achieves all that they are capable of and more, regardless of background, culture, heritage or ability.

The White Horse Federation is committed to maintaining the unique nature of all of the schools within the Trust.  Each Local Governing Body has the freedom to focus on the challenge and support for improvements in teaching and learning and the curriculum, by ensuring statutory obligations are dealt with centrally, through the synergies of belonging to a Trust.  So also, you, as the Principal, can truly focus on teaching and learning, the curriculum, school improvement and relationships with stakeholders.

Please note that you are wholly responsible for fact checking in respect of the information provided by schools. Please also check for the latest visa and work permit requirements that may apply. Tes is not responsible for the content of advertisements or the policies adopted by advertising schools. Tes asks that all schools follow Tes' Fair Recruitment Policy.
