Rossendale School are recruiting for a Maintenance Assistant to join their maintenance team. We are looking for a passionate handyperson and an enthusiastic DIYer, who will carry out reactive day-to-day maintenance issues within the site and their grounds. You will also assist identifying and reporting damage, faults, and other related issues to line manager (and then actions as agreed) to ensure that environmental conditions continue to meet quality standards and statutory regulations, as well as undertaking regular internal and external patrols of the units and the grounds, ensuring that all the windows and doors are closed and locked as appropriate to the time of day.

Rossendale School currently accepts pupils from some 16 different Local Education Authorities in the Northwest and although we are predominantly a day school, there is provision for up to 12 pupils to board Monday to Friday in term time only. We can take up to 110 young people from the age of 5 to 18 years old.

Ideally, you will have experience in some of the following areas: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, plastering (qualifications are not essential) along with the following characteristics:

Communication – During your role your working environment may involve interacting with our young people we support that may display varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties

Organisation – As well as supervising the staff team, you’ll need to be confident and organised in record keeping, ensuring issues are logged on the internal computer systems and keeping up to date with routine maintenance checks.

Attentive – No two jobs will be the same so being attentive to understand them and identify areas where we can support is important.

Rossendale is a school catering for the needs of pupils whose learning disability may be affected by an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The School provides education for young people aged from 7 – 18 years of age. Our Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 are based on the main school site, whilst Key Stage 5 have a specialist sixth form building based in the local community. At Key Stage 4 and 5 we offer a wide range of GCSE subjects, BTEC Awards, Functional Skills, ASDAN and Entry Level qualifications. We currently want to expand A level courses at the sixth form provision. The school admits boys and girls on both daily and residential placements. Rossendale School has an excellent staff team who are enthusiastic and supportive. Rossendale School was judged to be 'Outstanding' in all areas by Ofsted.
