Org. Type:  16-19 STEM College

Wootton Academy Trust has recently opened Kimberly College, one of three new, specialist Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Sixth Form Free Schools in the UK. The College moves to its purpose-built home in Stewartby, a village near Bedford in April 2014, having opened in temporary accommodation at Wootton Upper School last September.

The college currently has 160 Year 12 STEM students - with forty specialising in engineering - and we anticipate that 240 students will join in September 2014 - with 50 specialising in engineering and during the next three years we anticipate that the roll will to increase to 700.

The curriculum consists of a wide range of STEM courses, alongside some non-STEM provision at Level 3; the most popular A levels are Mathematics and Physics, the academic cornerstones of engineering and the College also offers Level 2 and 3 BTEC Engineering courses. The College fosters innovative teaching and learning in its pursuit of excellence and is committed to working with employers and responding to their needs - the College’s engineering curriculum is co-constructed with employers.
