Job overview

Slough and Eton is looking for two new team members to join our Sixth Form staff as Learning Mentors.  This is an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in a career in teaching and with recent experience of university and A-Level work to support our students with their post-16 studies.

Term time + INSET days 8am-4pm

The Learning Mentors are new posts to support our rapidly growing Sixth Form.  Each Learning Mentor will oversee a Sixth Form Study Room.  They will make sure the students are completing independent work successfully and offer support and guidance to help improve the work set and wider reading needed for maximum success.  You will also be pivotal in supporting students with their UCAS applications and wider curriculum experiences.

Previous experience of secondary school employment would be helpful but is not essential as we will provide all the necessary training to help you to be successful.  The new members of this team need to be hardworking, dedicated to ensuring students of all abilities can succeed and, crucially, committed to being a great role model for future success.

Slough and Eton is a great school on the outskirts of Slough, which serves the Chalvey community.  Our new Headteacher joined us this September and we are relentlessly focused on ensuring great teaching, learning and experiences are at the core of what we do.  It’s an exciting time for us and our pupils and students are a pleasure to work with.

If you are interested in finding out more then please read the welcome letter from our Headteacher and feel free to visit the school in advance of applying.  We are, or course, committed to safeguarding the welfare of our students and staff and will conduct all necessary DBS checks as part of our recruitment process.

We look forward to hearing from you.

If you would like to contribute to our exciting future please contact our HR Advisor, Beverly Glanville for an application form beverly.glanville@slougheton.com or visit our website at www.slougheton.com in the vacancy section for further details and application pack. CV’s alone will not be accepted as a valid application.

About Slough and Eton CE Business and Enterprise College

Slough and Eton is a great school and I am immensely proud to have joined it as Headteacher in September 2017.  Pupils and students at Slough and Eton are expected to work extremely hard and are encouraged to achieve their very best in all that they do.  As a result of their tremendous work ethic they achieve extremely well and we are very proud of them.  We believe in educating the whole child and as such place great importance on the many cultural experiences we provide for pupils and students as well as the academic ones.

As a Church of England school we welcome pupils from all faiths, foster a culture of tolerance and understanding throughout the school and are always delighted to show visitors the fantastic things that happen here.  We have a thriving and growing Sixth Form and enjoy using excellent facilities.  If you are interested in finding out more about our school then please do come and visit us.  I would be delighted to show you around, along with some pupils and give you the opportunity to talk informally with some staff about what it is like to work at the school.

Mr Peter Collins

Headteacher
