The opportunity

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and inspirational individual who will be passionate about making a difference for students on our Level 2 programme. The programme’s purpose is to equip our Level 2 students with the skills, knowledge and attributes required to navigate the challenges and opportunities in learning, life, and work, raising aspirations and ambitions.

We have a diverse student population and require someone who can assist learners with building the attributes required to make progress, specifically self-awareness and resilience and who can develop student decision making and confidence skills.

The responsibilities

You will be delivering 1to1 and group coaching sessions, providing targeted and focussed interventions to your caseload of students. The coaching will relate to learning behaviours, academic success, relationships, and career pathways to enable them to progress to the next level of learning or employment.

A fundamental part of this role is to work closely with students who are experiencing difficulties in managing their behaviour and may require coaching using a positive behaviour management framework.

You will be working closely with teaching staff and other student support services. The role will necessitate strong record-keeping skills.

The person

The role would suit someone with experience or relevant transferrable skills from working within an education or youth work setting. You will have demonstrable skills in group/classroom management and rapport building with a diverse range of learners.

You will be excited to explore engaging and non-traditional facilitation methods.

We are looking to recruit the right person. Attitude, values, and mindset are critical features of our staff. We want staff who bring their genuine self to everything they do and want to be involved in every aspect of college life.

King Edward VI College Nuneaton is a Sixth Form College that was established in 1974 on the site of King Edward VI Grammar School in Nuneaton. The College now has approximately 1,350 students aged 16-19 years and 130 staff and is growing yearly.

King Edward VI College Nuneaton prides itself on a friendly, personal approach and its ability to maintain a high level of success for all its students.

One of the reasons for the success of the college is that students enjoy studying here, and the proportion of students completing their courses continues to be excellent and amongst the highest in the country.

If student achievement is compared to their achievement at GCSE, calculations using official government measures of what is known as "value added" show our students to be achieving as well or better than would be expected from their starting point.

All our staff are committed to giving students the best possible learning experience in their period in college and we aim to continue in the future the successes achieved by our students.
