Graded Good by Ofsted, the Preparation for Life and Work area delivers high quality programmes focusing on the development of English (including ESOL), Maths and Employability skills. This ESOL teaching opportunity will allow you to be part of an ambitious and innovative team.

There is a strong community development strand to ensure that the work of our team reaches those that may not have had access to learning opportunities, and an emphasis on ensuring that learners progress to further learning, volunteering or employment opportunities.

All posts will be based at the Shadwell Centre but delivery takes place in a variety of community locations, schools and the borough’s Idea Stores. 

Key Responsibilities

You will provide high quality teaching, learning and support for learners in the Post-19 education sector for Tower Hamlets Council.

You will be responsible for delivering excellent teaching and learning on a range of ESOL programmes across the borough .

You will assist the Curriculum Managers with a full range of curriculum development in ESOL programmes for the Idea Store Learning Service. You will develop courses, schemes of work and assessment strategies to ensure that our courses meet the wide ranging needs of learners in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets

Requirements

You must hold a PGCE or an equivalent level qualification.

You will need to have a detailed knowledge of ESOL and professional working experience including meeting ambitious targets for attendance, retention and success.

A knowledge of teaching mixed ability groups as well as knowledge and understanding of current best practice in teaching and learning is essential.

This post requires an enhanced DBS and the ability to work at weekends/evenings as required.
