Nelson and Colne College Group is a beacon for educational excellence, made up of a family of colleges – Nelson & Colne College, Lancashire Adult Learning & Accrington & Rossendale College. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Social Sciences Teacher to join our team on a full-time, 1 year fixed term basis, working 35 hours per week. This role will start in August 2021 and will be based at Nelson and Colne College but travel across other College sites may be required.
We welcome applications from Newly Qualified Teachers.
Main duties include:
• Teach on a range of programmes in Social Sciences
• Plan, prepare and deliver high quality teaching and learning resources.
• Develop and share resources for the course/subject including maintaining effective links across College for resources
• Deliver enrichment and enhancement activities
• Maintain comprehensive, up to date, student/course/subject records and provide information, as requested
The ideal candidate will have:
• Degree in a relevant subject area or appropriate professional qualification
• Recognised teaching qualification or a willingness to achieve this within three years of appointment
• Successful teaching experience in Social Sciences
• Knowledge of and proven ability to deliver the curriculum successfully
• Demonstrate a student-centred approach to teaching

About Nelson and Colne College
Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms.
Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
