Job overview

We are looking for a proactive and skilled Software Developer to join our dedicated IT team at the British School in the Netherlands (BSN).

You will be required to handle the call tickets in the organisation’s helpdesk system that deal with the software and services side of the IT applications of the schools, serving as a support for BSN applications. This will involve dealing with staff and parents using various systems both off the shelf and custom solutions.


The Role

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the school’s IT applications, working with a range of systems including off-the-shelf and custom-built solutions.

You will be responsible for managing and resolving call tickets related to software and services within the organisation’s helpdesk system, providing technical support to staff, students, and parents. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical skills while contributing to the smooth operation of IT services across all four BSN campuses.

You will be part of a collaborative team of 11 IT professionals, working closely with colleagues across the BSN community. While the role is primarily based in Voorburg, we offer flexible working arrangements with the expectation of regular on-site presence.

The Candidate

Required Technical Skillset:

  • Proficient in:
  • Office 365 applications;
  • Microsoft Forms (advanced features);
  • PowerAutomate for workflow automation;
  • SharePoint Online;
  • Development & Coding:
  • Strong experience with Microsoft ASP.NET (C#) and MS Blazor;
  • Proficiency in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS;
  • Comfortable using Visual Studio for development;
  • Cloud & DevOps:
  • Experience working with Azure Apps;
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (builds, pipelines);
  • Database Management:
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server;
  • Advanced skills in SQL database querying;

We are looking for:

  • Accurate, reliable, and customer-focused, with strong problem-solving abilities;
  • Organized and structured approach to work, with attention to detail;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively in English (written and spoken);
  • A team player who can also work independently when required;
  • At least 3 years of professional experience as a mid-level software developer.

The IT Team at BSN

Our IT team provides technical support and solutions for all four BSN campuses, including two junior and two senior schools. We handle a wide range of queries from parents, students, and staff, ensuring the smooth operation of critical IT systems.
