To start September or October 2018 (to be negotiated) for a fixed term period until June 2019, we are seeking a highly competent Hispanist who is able to participate in and contribute to the life of the School as a whole. In return, the School is committed to helping you develop further as a teacher by giving you access to its generous professional development budget.
The Modern Languages Department has its own suite of rooms in its new, state-of-the-art Adamson Centre. We are a large department. There are presently nineteen full-time members of staff, one part-time, plus Assistants for French, German, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.
Numbers of pupils studying Spanish are very healthy indeed. The vast majority of pupils score an A* or A in IGCSE Spanish examinations, with the majority scoring A*. We are delighted with twenty-four opting for it at Lower Sixth level this year. This summer we will receive our first set of Pre-U results. We have really enjoyed teaching the course and are very hopeful. We are a friendly and enthusiastic department with a range of experience. We organise lots of after-school Hispanic activities in which pupils are keen to take part.
The successful candidate will be qualified to graduate level with a good Degree in a relevant subject and be able to teach Spanish to A-level/Pre-U.
Oundle is a historic market town in Northamptonshire famous for its beautiful Georgian streets and impressive limestone buildings. The town has a spirited cultural life, with an annual international festival, literature festival, and frequent performances of nationally touring shows at the School’s Stahl theatre. The town has a range of independent shops, coffee houses, pubs and eateries. Encircled by the river Nene, the town is also blessed to be surrounded by beautiful countryside with many picturesque villages nearby.
