TASIS England is seeking a full-time Spanish Teacher for our Middle and Upper School students.

Specifically, the teacher will teach a range of classes for students aged 11-18, from those who have recently begun their Spanish studies to those who have three to four years of background.

A candidate should have at least 3 years of relevant school experience and a proven record of exhibiting the following:

  • A superior command of their subject, including native or near-native abilities  in the language
  • A contagious vitality and love of learning that encourages them to develop  their own academic and intellectual interests 
  • The ability to maintain a sense of order in the classroom which fosters the flow  of ideas and learning by all pupils.
  • The use of a variety of well-designed activities, assignments, and approaches  that reflect the varied learning styles of the pupils.
  • The use of thoughtful, varied and challenging assessments that are fully  aligned with instructional outcomes, with clear criteria and standards.

Teachers at TASIS England show a genuine interest in the personal growth of their students. They:

  • Genuinely enjoy young people and are actively concerned for and responsive  to the well-being and personal development of both residential and day  students
  • Make themselves available during non-classroom hours to assist  students.
  • Aspire to help students gain self-confidence by meeting reasonable goals and  challenges.
  • Demonstrate a sincere concern for the development of students' moral  growth; foster and encourage honesty; good judgment; a respect for the needs, rights, and property of others, and acceptance of personal responsibility for  one's actions.
  • Exhibit a genuine interest in helping students grow into responsible contributing citizens and leaders.

TASIS England follows the American curriculum and American school calendar therefore the successful applicant must be available to take up this position on
the 14th August 2016.

Located in a rural setting in the small village of Thorpe, Surrey, TASIS The American School in England, is an international school for students from Nursery through Grade 12 (ages 3 to 18). We are a day school for students of all ages, and offer boarding in our Upper School (Grades 9 to 12, ages 14 to 18). Throughout all grades we teach a content-rich curriculum which enables students to develop broad knowledge across Science, History, Foreign Languages, the Humanities, Arts, and the core subjects of English and Math, as well as developing physical, emotional and social skills, and literacy. In our Upper School we offer students either the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma program or the American High School diploma, with the option of additional Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

First founded in 1976, TASIS The American School in England (otherwise known as TASIS England) is an independent school in the village of Thorpe, Surrey. The school provides an American-style education to its students, following an American curriculum. As a result, the majority of the school’s students are American, although there is still a significant international contingent. The school’s campus occupies 46 acres of land, close to Royal Holloway University. TASIS England has around 800 pupils on roll, with a minority of these being boarding students.

The school makes extensive use of the wide range of modern facilities available on campus in order to achieve this, with students having the option of a wide range of sports opportunities and extra-curricular activities. In terms of curriculum, older students at the school have the option of taking the International Baccalaureate, a two-year course widely recognised by a huge range of international higher-education institutions.
