Job overview

Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo)

(MPR/UPR) plus TLR1b

From January 2024 or earlier if possible

Following the promotion of the current postholder, the White Hills Park Trust seek to appoint, for January, or September onwards if possible, a SENCo. We want someone who can lead a culture where SEND is everyone’s responsibility, and to ensure that our SEND students achieve the best possible outcomes and are fully involved in the life of the school.

You will lead a team of skilled and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants, and continue to build on our excellent SEND practice. You will need to be able to work with a range of stakeholders, write successful bids for additional funding and contribute to EHCP reviews. WE will ask you to lead staff training and provide guidance and support to colleagues in a variety of roles across school.

Due to the demands of the role, you will not have a mainstream teaching commitment, but may be timetabled for small group courses or interventions.

Alderman White School is a friendly, thriving and stimulating place to work and study. Our students are well-behaved and motivated. We have excellent support from parents and the community, and a talented and positive staff team. We are ambitious for every student and provide high-quality pastoral care and support, as well as outstanding enrichment opportunities for our students and the local community.

Our membership of the White Hills Park Trust, a small local Trust of diverse schools with a common ethos and values, provides excellent opportunities for further professional development and networking.

If you would like to arrange to visit the school or to have a discussion about the role, please contact Heather Crofts on 0115 9170424 or white@whptrust.org

Applications for the post must be submitted by 10.00 am on Tuesday 20 June via our online application form, which can be found at Vacancies (whptrust.org) or by clicking the ‘apply now’ link.

Interviews will be held w/c Monday 26 June.

“The behaviour of students is good. Students, including those in the sixth form, approach their learning with commitment and enthusiasm, bring the right equipment to class and present their work neatly. They understand how their behaviour contributes to learning, and they respect the clear rules for conduct. They collaborate effectively in lessons. Students report that disruption in lessons is rare.”
