About the Role

We are now seeking a passionate, strategic and compassionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join our leadership journey and help shape outstanding SEND provision across our growing school. This is a unique opportunity to lead meaningful change and ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive.

As SENCo, you will play a pivotal leadership role in developing and delivering a high-quality, inclusive SEND provision. Working closely with Senior Leadership, pastoral, clinical and curriculum teams, you will ensure that support for pupils is ambitious, personalised and impactful.

You’ll combine strategic vision with hands-on leadership — influencing practice across the school while directly supporting pupils, families and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic development and implementation of SEND policy and provision across the school

  • Monitor, evaluate and improve the quality and impact of SEND support using data and evidence-based practice

  • Oversee day-to-day SEND provision, including provision mapping, interventions and EHCP Annual Reviews

  • Ensure full compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and alignment with the School Development Plan

  • Coordinate personalised support for pupils, promoting inclusion and access to learning and wider school life

  • Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, local authorities and external agencies to secure effective support

  • Work collaboratively with SLT, pastoral, clinical and curriculum teams to drive positive outcomes for students

  • Promote an inclusive school culture while identifying staff training needs and reporting SEND impact to leadership and governors

About you

We’re looking for an inspiring professional who is:

  • Passionate about improving outcomes for pupils with SEND

  • A confident leader with whole-school vision

  • Knowledgeable about the SEND Code of Practice

  • Skilled in analysing data to drive improvement

  • An excellent communicator able to build strong partnerships

  • Organised, resilient and solution-focused

  • Committed to safeguarding, inclusion and equality

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • QTS or QTLS

  • National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete within 3 years)

  • Thrive Practitioner qualification (or willingness to train)

  • Teaching or HLTA experience

  • Experience contributing to school development and self-evaluation

  • Full UK Driving Licence
