Due to continued growth, The Royal Grammar School Guildford Qatar (RGSGQ) is seeking to appoint an outstanding Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join one of the leading British international schools in the Middle East.

The RGS Guildford Qatar has developed a strong partnership with RGS Guildford in the UK a prestigious UK independent school with a tradition and rich history for providing outstanding education. We also have strong links with our international sister schools throughout the world.

The RGS Guildford, Qatar is an all-through British school offering a co-educational British curriculum for children aged 3 to 18. The school opened in September 2016 and now welcomes over 785 students to its campus which is just 20 minutes from the Pearl and the new Lusail city. Students follow the English Early Years Foundation Stage, the National Curriculum at Key Stages 1, 2, 3 and at Key Stage 4 a comprehensive range of IGCSE courses. At post-16 the school offers a range of AS levels. The school has a reputation for high quality teaching and learning and has a range of excellent sports facilities which include an astro turf, sports hall and an open-air swimming pool.

About the Role

The SENCO will lead the strategic development and day to day delivery of SEND provision across EYFS, Primary and Secondary phases.

This is a whole school leadership role with responsibility for:

  • Developing and implementing a high quality SEND programme across the school

  • Leading and managing a team of SEN assistants

  • Supporting staff in planning, adapting and delivering inclusive teaching

  • Coordinating provision for students with additional needs

  • Delivering targeted SEN interventions and, where required, teaching SEN lessons

  • Working closely with parents, external agencies and senior leaders

  • Monitoring student progress and ensuring effective provision and outcomes

The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening inclusive practice and ensuring high expectations for all learners.

We are looking for a candidate who has:

  • A recognized degree in Education or a related field

  • A teaching qualification such as PGCE or QTS

  • Proven experience teaching the National Curriculum for England

  • Experience working with students with SEND across a range of needs

  • The National Award for SEN Coordination or equivalent (desirable)

  • Experience leading or supporting SEND provision within a school

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills

  • The ability to work collaboratively with staff, students and parents

  • A commitment to high quality teaching and learning

  • A willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school
