The Oratory Preparatory School (OPS) is a Roman Catholic day and boarding school for boys and girls from 2 to 13. The school welcomes both staff and pupils of other denominations and faiths. There are around 400 pupils in the school, 110 of them in the Pre-Prep Department and 290 in the Prep school.  The school is set in 60 acres of beautiful countryside on the edge of the Chiltern Hills, nine miles north of Reading.  

The OPS aims to provide the best possible education for its pupils.  Staff are expected to maintain a very high standard of teaching and are provided with every support from the Headmaster and the Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate must be willing to contribute fully to the life of the school and to participate in such duties as are customary for staff at the OPS.   

The OPS require a full time Head of Learning Support and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to manage and lead Learning Support within the School. In addition to management duties, the Head of Department will also work with students either on a 1:1 basis following individually planned Programmes of work or in small groups. The appointee may also be expected to offer some in class support to students, and to contribute to the standard curriculum if appropriate.   

The successful applicant will:  

• hold a Diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties 

• be able to teach Mathematics as well as Literacy 

• hold a teaching qualification 

• be able to teach a wide age-range of pupils, particularly 7-13 years old.
