Vision for Education are looking to recruit an open minded Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) on behalf of a friendly Infant School in Wisbech. The role as a SENCO will be to coordinate the support provided for young children with special educational needs and disabilities and their families. This position is due to start in September full time on a temp - perm basis.

Your main duties will be:

  • Keeping up to date profiles on children with special educational needs (SEN)
  • To support and advise teachers as appropriate in how to include children’s needs in the setting
  • To liaise with other professionals and other settings
  • To meet with parents/carers regularly in order to maintain good relationships and keep parents/carers up to date
  • To respond to changes in legislation/practice from the government and the Local Authority

The ideal SENCO will be open minded and creative, have high expectations as well as having good behaviour management strategies and a proven track record of working with SEN children. It is important the successful SENCO holds a minimum Level 3 NVQ or equivalent. The SENCO will be joining a school that provides an inclusive ethos and an environment where each child can develop and learn at an appropriate rate to their ability.
