Special Needs Therapist

Smart Teachers is recruiting for an experienced Special Needs Therapist to join an ‘Outstanding’ special school in Ealing, for students aged between 5 and 18 years who have a range of needs including emotional, social, and behavioural and communication difficulties. The successful Special Needs Therapist will join the school in January 2017 on a part time long term basis until the end of the academic year. There is also the potential for this part time role to become a permanent position.

• Special Needs Therapist
• Use different techniques to manage physical, behavioural and psychological issues
• Encourage students and parents to pursue therapy for positive outcomes
• Be calm, patient and empathetic when dealing with students who feel stressed and frustrated
• Starting in January 2017 on a full time, part time contract (for 2 – 3 days per week)
• Long term contract with the potential to go permanent
• Competitive salary in line with Main Pay Scale (will vary depending on experience)

In order to be considered for this role, the Special Needs Therapist will need to meet the following criteria:

• Must hold an undergraduate degree in psychology or an equivalent degree
• Have proven UK classroom based experience (one term minimum)
• Have experience supporting students with special needs, particularly with Social Emotional Mental Health
• Eligible to work in the UK (must have valid visa)
• Recent classroom-based references and valid DBS/police checks
