Place of Employment: A flexible 4 day week. 3 days at Aston Academy & 1 day at Shirebrook Academy

(can be deployed on any site within the trust)

Hours of Work: 37 Hours per week

Term Time + 5 days

Salary: Band H points 24 – 27 (£31,099 - £33,820)

Pro-rata salary £27,391 - £29,788

(plus an additional 1 week of pay if the appointee has 5 years or more continuous service with the Local Authority)

Appointment: Permanent -To commence ASAP

An opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Assessor, who will support the SENDco and Exam Officer to assess eligibility, write reports and co-ordinate student exam access arrangements as required to ensure all children and young people receive the support they are entitled to in order to achieve their potential, whilst also contributing to all aspects of safeguarding, including child protection.

The successful candidate will have a Level 7 qualification in Access Arrangements or be a qualified specialist assessor, and will be able to work to strict procedures and guidelines, to oversee that agreed arrangements are in place and fully implemented in line with JCQ guidelines and regulations.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be able to carry out assessments to support applications for student exam access arrangements
  • Complete Form 8 reports, filenotes and GDPR forms in line with JCQ regulations.
  • Maintain and keep accurate records including recording information on relevant spreadsheets and forms.
  • Work closely with exam departments to ensure EAA is processed in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Be well organised and able to meet deadlines
  • Be able to build and maintain successful relationships with staff and students
  • Able to work collaboratively with many colleagues
  • Work within our school collaborative – secondary and primary
  • Be committed to promoting positive values, attitudes and behaviour
  • Able to interest engage and motivate and students to reach their full potential

Aston Academy is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated in Swallownest, Sheffield. It is supported by the multi-academy Aston Community Education Trust, which provides specialist staff and expertise for three secondary schools and nine Junior. Aston is a larger than the average-sized secondary, Aston Academy provides 1,800 places for students aged 11-18, when fully subscribed.

Aston Community Education Trust was formed in May 2011 when Aston Academy, previously known as Aston Comprehensive School, converted to academy status.
