Job overview

Leicester Grammar Junior School is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated teacher of PE and Boys’ Games. We are looking for someone to join our hardworking and committed PE staff, who is happy to play a full part in the life of the School. PE and Games play a major part in our curriculum and we recognise the value to the health and wellbeing of the children. We are, therefore, looking for a confident PE/Sport specialist primary teacher for September 2017 (or as soon as possible thereafter).

Leicester Grammar Junior School is an independent co-educational day school for children aged 3-11. We occupy a purpose-built, well-facilitated building with outstanding sports’ facilities on our shared campus with Leicester Grammar School. Our children benefit from on-site swimming pool, astro-turfs, hard courts and playing fields.

Applications are particularly welcome from candidates who specialise in the school's major games of Rugby, Football, Cricket, Athletics and Swimming. The successful applicant would be delivering outstanding PE and Games across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

The School offers teaching staff a comprehensive benefits package, including a salary scale significantly above that of the maintained sector, staff reduction in school fees, daily lunch allowance and membership of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.

To apply, please visit www.leicestergrammar.org.uk where further details about this role can be found.

  • Closing date: Midday on Monday 15 May 2017
  • Interviews will be held: Tuesday 23 May 2017

Leicester Grammar Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment.  The appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Agency check.

Leicester Grammar Junior School is a selective, co-educational independent day school of just over 400 pupils founded in 1992 for pupils aged 3-11; it is today larger than at any time in its history. It is highly regarded across Leicestershire and children are drawn from a wide catchment area.

The school has built up a strong reputation for delivering an excellent academic education, whilst developing the all-round talents of the children in a warm and nurturing environment. The vast majority of our pupils progress to Leicester Grammar School, and this provides them with a seamless transition in their education to a leading senior school, named Sunday Times East Midlands Independent Secondary School of the Year 2020. Underpinning these academic successes is a caring community based on a Christian ethos that offers an extensive co-curricular programme, including strong provision for music, sport and drama. The Senior and Junior Schools were inspected in November 2019 and achieved the highest grading (‘Excellent’) in both categories (Pupils’ Achievements and Pupils’ Personal Development).

The school has excellent local transport links, with both London and Birmingham under an hour away by train. Market Harborough, situated 10 miles south of Great Glen, was recently voted as one of the ‘Best Places to Live’ by The Sunday Times.

Leicester Grammar School Trust is an educational trust overseeing three schools: Leicester Grammar School, Leicester Grammar Junior School and LGS Stoneygate.
