Job overview

At Emmanuel Schools Foundation, we value, challenge and inspire students and staff because each is infinitely precious, gifted for a purpose and morally responsible. We transform schools by valuing excellence of character, providing a challenging curriculum and inspiring service to our communities. We serve economically and socially disadvantaged contexts in the Northeast and Yorkshire, currently through six schools in Blyth, Gateshead, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Doncaster, educating over 7,000 students with a team of around 1,000 staff.

We have a challenging school improvement agenda and are seeking talented professionals to join our School Improvement Team.

The Specialist Subject Lead will work with schools to raise student attainment in Science, supporting our mission to pursue excellence across the curriculum with an increasing student population in economically and socially disadvantaged contexts.

Reporting to the Director of Teaching & Learning, the Trust Subject Lead will work with school Heads of Department and other education staff to enable alignment around a common approach to curriculum, assessment, teacher training and development in support of the Trust’s educational and organisational objectives, including coaching line managers where required.

Working from a flexible location, the Subject Lead will also be modelling teaching and team teaching in Science – perhaps with key examination groups – in academies.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an ethos-driven educational organisation whose vision, ethos and policies are characterised by high expectations and a community in which all are, and feel, valued.

Benefits include access to the Teachers’ pension scheme, lunch allowance when school-based, and hybrid/flexible working around role requirements. Location is flexible within the Trust, with travel to other locations as required.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post will involve contact with children and will be engaging in regulated activity. In addition, as part of the shortlisting process, and in accordance with statutory guidance, we may carry out an online search (for publicly available material) to help identify any incidents or issues that have happened that we may want to explore with shortlisted applicants at interview.
