Job overview

We are looking to further broaden the curriculum offered at Furrowfield School with the appointment of a member of staff who can deliver one or more of the following subject areas:

Food Technology, Music and Performing Arts, Geography, History, IT/Computing or Nurture Provision.

Furrowfield School is a school for pupils with Social, Emotional and/or Mental Health difficulties. It provides for pupils aged 11-16 years and is federated with Eslington SEMH Primary School. Furrowfield School has a current Ofsted rating of 'Good,' 2017. 

The Governors are seeking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Specialist Teacher to join our team. 

The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher and also have a particular interest in working with pupils who can display extremely challenging behaviour and have complex social and emotional needs. 

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate a high level of commitment to making a difference to pupils' lives who do present as challenging on a daily basis, but who also need and deserve a  high quality educational experience regardless of educational background and/or behavioural challenge. 

The successful candidate should be committed to working as part of a whole school team to support some of the most vunerable pupils in Gateshead. They will also need to be committed to supporting the work across the Federation with Eslington Primary School.

• Be an outstanding practitioner


 To be considered for the Specialist teacher position at Furrowfield School you will:

• Have experience of teaching secondary education at KS3 and KS4 to students with SEMH

• Hold a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Have a real passion for teaching and a desire to work in a secondary SEMH setting.
