Outwood Academy Normanby, Middlesbrough, seeks Specialist TAs to take responsibility for one of the following areas: SEMH support in schools, Reading and Literacy interventions, and Numeracy interventions. These are newly created positions for the 22/23 academic year.

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with members of our Inclusion Team and will require the energy and creativity to develop and inspire students learning. A key focus will be to support student intervention and increase student’s ability to access all areas of the curriculum. You will embed and develop literacy and numeracy skills, working proactively with other members of the Inclusion Team to improve attainment, by adopting a personalised approach towards planning and delivery of a bespoke curriculum.

We have Specialist Teaching Assistant positions to focus on the following areas:

  • Literacy - Intervention, Miskin and Accelerated Reader
  • Numeracy – Intervention
  • SEMH – Social, Emotional and Mental Health

Examples of work includes:

  • Taking responsibility for a caseload of students inside and outside of the classroom during structured or unstructured time.
  • Assessing the needs of students and using detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support students educational progress and attainment.
  • Delivering intervention programmes to individuals and small groups, preparing relevant and appropriate learning experiences in conjunction with the department staff.
