Outwood Academy Ormesby seeks applications from outstanding applicants with integrity, imagination and energy for this rewarding role.

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant you will be required to work closely with members of our Inclusion Team and have the energy and creativity to develop and inspire students learning. A key focus will be to support student intervention and increase student’s ability to access all areas of the curriculum and embed and develop literacy and numeracy skills, working proactively with other members of the Inclusion Team to improve attainment, by adopting a personalised approach towards planning and delivery of a bespoke curriculum.

We are currently looking for a Specialist Teaching Assistant to focus on the following area:

  • SEMH - Social, emotional and mental health

The successful candidate will work as part of an inclusion team supporting students in all necessary interventions. A key focus will be to increase student’s ability to access all areas of the curriculum. Examples of the work the successful candidate will be expected to deliver are to:

  • Take responsibility for a caseload of students inside and outside of the classroom during structured or unstructured time.
  • Assess the needs of students and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support students’ educational progress and attainment.
  • Deliver intervention programs to individuals and small groups, preparing relevant and appropriate learning experiences in conjunction with the department staff.
  • Track and monitor student life skill targets and/or EHCP outcomes, discussing progress with parents and agreeing new targets/EHCP outcomes at Interim Reviews.

The academy received a good judgement in their 2017 Ofsted inspection. However in July 2022 the academy was given a notice to improve judgement.
