We are seeking to employ a new Speech & Language Therapist for Autumn term 2020. If you have initiative, enthusiasm for learning, good educational qualifications and some experience in working with young people, we would like to meet you.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Speech and Language Therapist.
The Speech and Language Therapy Department is currently undergoing some exciting changes and we have an opportunity to hire a Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and experienced team. The successful candidate will be working as an integral part of the school community and will provide outstanding Speech and Language Therapy services to our students.
With lots of opportunities for training, this role would suit a NQP as well as someone with experience of dyslexia, DLD or ASD.
Reporting Relationship
The postholder will be managed by the Speech and Language Therapy Manager
Purpose of Post
To work as a member of the Speech and Language Therapy team within The Moat School and Moat Sixth Form. The postholder will provide clinical services to a defined caseload of children who present with speech, language and communication difficulties. The post holder will work independently on a daily basis with support from a designated supervisor.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Professional/Clinical
The Speech and Language Therapist will:
Be responsible for maintaining own competency to practice through CPD and maintain a portfolio which reflects personal development in order to maintain up to date HCPC registration
Demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice and outcome measures
Keep up to date with, and develop strategies for implementing best practice in clinical areas relating to the caseload
Contribute to the multidisciplinary team at the school
Access a second opinion from more senior therapists as identified via clinical supervision
Devise appropriate intervention plans for clients and provide suitable and timely intervention
To attend, when appropriate, Annual Review Meetings and Shared Goals/IEP meetings
To liaise and work alongside cover staff, support staff, assistants and volunteers
To maintain use of equipment and resources
Actively engage in own performance management
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Education and Training
The Speech and Language Therapist will:
Participate in mandatory and recommended training programmes in accordance with school / departmental guidelines
Maintain and develop professional expertise and knowledge
Demonstrate understanding of the basic principles of Occupational Therapy
Provide specialist advice to other parties as appropriate
To explain the role of Speech and Language Therapy within school
To identify training needs within the staff group
To advise on and demonstrate Speech and Language Therapy targets and strategies throughout the school day
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Health and Safety
The Speech and Language Therapist will:
Carry out school policy as documented and/or directed by the senior leadership team
Document appropriately and report any near misses, hazards and accidents and bring them to the attention of the relevant / designated individuals
Work in a safe manner with due care and attention to the safety of self and others
Comply with school and departmental procedures with regard to safeguarding
Promote a culture that values diversity and respect
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative
The Speech and Language Therapist will:
Undertake general administrative and pupil related administrative tasks in line with school requirements and policies
Ensure the maintenance of accurate records in line with clinical governance
Ensure good working practice and adherence to standards of best practice
Engage in service audit and demonstrate achievement of the service objectives
Provide accurate statistical information as required
Produce reports reflecting specialist knowledge regarding student needs
