The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Holder of a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Speech-Language Therapy from an accredited higher education institution.
  • Must hold a professional registration in the UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand or other countries with a professional registration board for Speech and Language Pathologists.
  • A minimum 3 years of relevant clinical or school practice.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate the following professional attributes:

  • Have school and clinical experience, a minimum of three years
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of current best practice in the field.
  • Use a range of tools to conduct a collaborative, informative and comprehensive assessment of speech and language needs.
  • Write evaluation reports including recommendations for families and school colleagues.
  • Demonstrate their skills in empowering families to support their children by implementing strategies at home.
  • Provide strategies for Teachers, Primary Learning Assistants and Learning Support Assistants to support children in the development of their skills and progression towards their individual goals.
  • Be diligent, systematic, analytical and detail-oriented.
  • Excel with a people-oriented approach and possess a high level of interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have experience in a multicultural environment.

 

BSM offers a generous salary to newly appointed teaching staff with a starting salary upwards of GBP50k pa, inclusive of superannuation, on an incremental salary scale with annual increases.

 

Full-time foreign-hire teaching staff also receive the following benefits:

About The British School Manila

The British School Manila (BSM) is a co-educational, private, not-for-profit British international school.

Founded in 1976, the school has grown from 2 classrooms and 32 students in its first year to the present day where BSM welcomes 950+ students aged 3-18, representing 50+ nationalities.

Our School

Our school is a fully accredited member of the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), a founding member of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) and a member of the East Asian Regional Council of Schools.

Our teaching staff come from a range of backgrounds with experience of the British and other highly regarded curricula. We offer classes from Nursery to Year 13 with three classes per year group.

The majority of BSM graduates attend College in the U.S. and  U.K., but our college placement data shows our students attend colleges all over the world.

The school year is divided into 3 terms: Term 1 from August to December, Term 2 from January to March, and Term 3 from April to June.

Our Curriculum

BSM teaches an adapted form of the National Curriculum of England in EYFS and Years 1-9. This is followed in Years 10 & 11 with a comprehensive range of Edexcel and Cambridge (I)GCSE courses. In Year 12 and 13 students experience the internationally renowned and recognised IB Diploma programme, which helps students develop their breadth and depth of knowledge ready for further education.

We are also proud of our wider curriculum. We offer more than 180 After School Activities (ASA), a rich and diverse programme that caters for all student interests and develops their sporting, creative, academic and artistic talents. Our service learning programme is designed to prompt both action and reflection and ensure our students develop the capacity for empathy and a sense of responsibility for others.  Our residential trips provide our students with opportunities to step out of their comfort zone, to appreciate cultural differences and to celebrate diversity.
