The Compton is a massively oversubscribed mixed multi-ethnic school that has had three outstanding OFSTED inspections in succession.

During the last inspection we were awarded 24 outstanding grades for all areas inspected.

The Compton has a national profile for excellence in teaching and learning, in leadership, and for student outcomes. The school has recently expanded to include a 6th Form.

In 2016, 77% of students gained 5+A*- C, including, English and Maths at GCSE.

Our results routinely put the school within the top 3% of schools nationally for progress

We are looking for adults with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to inspire and motivate young people. Candidates must have the enthusiasm and flexibility to work with students aged 11-16 years with a range of individual needs including those with challenging behaviour. An excellent standard of English (both written and oral) is essential as well as the ability to work as part of a team.

We would welcome applications from graduates, particularly those with a sport’s degree, taking a ’gap’ year or those considering teaching as a career.

  • To lead and supervise playground activities with young people during breaks and lunchtimes
  • To work under the guidance of teachers and pastoral staff in helping students to overcome barriers to learning; supporting students both in class and one to one

This post would suit those who have an interest or experience in supporting and guiding young people in their learning and behaviour as well as enthusiasm for sports and recreational activities

“Teaching in the school is first rate because of the attention to detail teachers pay to planning fascinating lessons. The outstanding teaching encourages pupils to work extremely hard and respond well to all they are asked to do. Standards overall are outstanding. All indicators point to a year-on-year rise in standards. Pupils gain just above average results in English, mathematics and science in the national tests at the end of Year 9, but by the time they reach Y11 their GCSE results are impressive and significantly above average. Pupils' achievement is outstanding because they fully meet their challenging targets and the high expectations set for them.”
