In partnership with Dulwich College and its eight sister schools in Asia, Dulwich College Yangon (DCY) upholds the traditions and outstanding educational standards which have become the hallmark of the Dulwich name in the UK and Asia. 

The College is looking to hire an experienced sports director to manage their outstanding facilities at the Star City campus. The successful candidate must be an experienced football coach, as they will be responsible for leading the coaching for the Dulwich Football Academy in co-operation with the San Jose Earthquakes from the U.S. Major Soccer League. Additional experience and qualifications in swimming would also be advantageous, but is not compulsory.

The facilities are newly constructed and include a full-sized grass football field and practice pitches, 400m grass running track, double-court indoor gymnasium (2 full-sized basketball/two volleyball/8 badminton courts), 10 lane 50m Olympic-sized swimming pool, training pool, tennis court, dance studio and club house.

The position will entail marketing the Dulwich Earthquakes Academy, promoting the facilities for private hire after school hours for use by sports clubs from youth to national level, organizing local tournaments in a variety of different sports, assisting with P.E. lessons during the College's regular curriculum and accompanying overseas tours.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a talented and ambitious sports professional to make a real difference in a country which is still beginning to develop its full sporting potential.

Candidates should be highly resourceful, collegially minded and forward-thinking practitioners who can demonstrate the following:

• proven track record in managing sporting facilities 

• efficiently manage bookings, organize competitions and generally maximize the use of the facilities outside of school hours

• able to lead a small team of admin and coaching staff to assist in the management of the sports facilities

have a proven track record of football coaching up to intermediate level or beyond; experience of coaching other sports, is highly advantageous, but not compulsory

• uphold high levels of health & safety and child safeguarding at all times

• possess the ability to market the facilities to potential customers

• be experienced in adapting sport to ensure it is inclusive, fun and accessible for all, whilst also having opportunities to work at elite level

• be eager to engage with the local community and provide opportunities for children who otherwise could not enjoy such facilities

At least 5 years relevant experience is required. All applicants should hold a Level 2 or higher coaching qualification in football and preferably in another sport(s) from a national governing body.

The initial contract will be for six months, with the aim of making the position full time after meeting KPIs based on the utilization of the facilities and growth of the football academy.

Introduction

Dulwich College Yangon is one school spread over two campuses in Yangon, Myanmar. Our Pun Hlaing campus opened in August 2016 and the Star City campus commenced operation in August 2017. Like its eight sister schools in the Dulwich College International (DCI) family in Asia, Dulwich College Yangon (DCY) is a well-resourced, purpose-built school with 21st century learning spaces and world-class facilities.

Commitment to the Community

Dulwich College Yangon is also committed to using its position to actively engage with the local community and help contribute to the development of Myanmar.  Yangon was chosen as the venue for the inaugural project of the Dulwich International Schools Foundation (DISF), through its partnership with Magic Bus Myanmar, who now work with over 4,000 students in locations across Yangon. The Gap Kids programme is based in each of the campuses, with teachers and students working alongside young people from the local communities. Both projects are intended to break the cycle of poverty through participation in these livelihood projects.

Facilities

The Pun Hlaing campus is situated adjacent to the awarding winning Pun Hlaing Golf Estate and enjoys excellent facilities including a 350-seat black box theatre, music, art, design and technology rooms, science laboratories, covered sport courts, full-size sports field. A new Junior School building is now under construction and additional facilities will be added in the future, such as a gymnasium, aquatic centre with a 25 metre swimming pool and a range of other specialist facilities.

The Star City campus sits within the premier Star City residential complex and boasts similar high level, class-based facilities, along with an outstanding sports complex comprised of a 10-lane, 50 metre Olympic swimming pool, 20m training pool, double court gymnasium, club house, full-size outdoor football pitch, running track and dance studio. Further upgrades will feature a black box theatre and art and design centre, as well as room for two extra school buildings to support the expansion of the College through to Year 13. In 2019 the campus also launched its boarding provision, being the first international school to do so in Myanmar.
