At Plumpton College we are looking to recruit a Sports Turf and Greenkeeping Lecturer on a permanent basis to join our successful Horticulture team. Delivering effective teaching, learning and assessment, and support to our Sports Turf and Greenkeeping apprentices, the Lecturer will help them to maximise their potential and make positive progress towards their timely success, future study and employment. You will be able to inspire and motivate future greenkeepers and ground’s people and make a significant contribution to our successful apprenticeship programmes and the industry as a whole.

Teaching a varied curriculum to cohorts at different stages of their apprenticeships, the successful candidate will be confident to teach Turf maintenance, golf-rules and etiquette, health and safety, weeds, pest and disease management, drainage and irrigation, preparing and managing a golf course, soil and plant science, identification of grasses, weeds, wildflowers, trees and shrubs, practical use of machines, team leading and budgeting.

With relevant industry experience, the ideal candidate will be qualified to a minimum of Level 3 with experience of Greenkeeping or a related subject. You will be a professional, hardworking and confident team player, with a track record of good or outstanding teaching, and above all you will be passionate about what you do.

 The post-holder will ideally possess a relevant teaching qualification or be willing to gain a qualification in role - we offer excellent teacher training and CPD opportunities to all teaching staff.
