St Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy Trust

Finance Manager – Full Time, 37 hours p.w. Term Time Only – split site

H8-23 £27,741 plus £626 fringe pro rata, Actual £23,575

Required from 1 September 2021

We seek applications from those of the Catholic faith, all faiths and of no faith but who are supportive of our Christian values and ethos.

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a new role across two sites of the newly formed St Francis Of Assisi Catholic Academy Trust. The role is 1 FTE (37 hours p.w.) – 5 days a week, term time only and will be split across two sites, 3 days at St Mary’s Catholic School (Bishop’s Stortford) and 2 days at Saint Cross Roman Catholic Primary School (Hoddesdon).

The Governors of St Mary’s Catholic School are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual to be responsible for assisting with budgets, monitoring, tracking and review and day to day finance procedures. This role would include assisting the CFO and will report directly to the CFO. The role will be based at St Mary’s Catholic School three days a week and two days at St Cross in Hoddesdon. The role will include assisting the Head teacher and Office Manager at Saint Cross Roman Catholic Primary school two days a week with Finance and other responsibilities.

St Mary’s role

The role will include order processing, invoice checking, monthly reconciliations, budget queries and assistance with the monthly monitoring of the budget. Other responsibilities will include assistance with the month end and year end finance process as well as working on ESFA returns. The role will also include dealing with ad Hoc queries from the Finance Team and assisting the CFO with ESFA deadlines and other finance tasks. The role will also be to assist with the finances of the school buses on a termly basis. The successful candidate will report to the CFO.

St Cross Role

The role will include managing the Office Manager at St Cross and ensuring orders are processed, invoices are paid, cashflow is managed, monthly reconciliations are undertaken and budgets are set and monitored on a monthly basis. The role will also include running monitoring reports for the Governors on a half termly basis. The successful candidate will report to the Head teacher and CFO and ensure the financial regulations for the Trust are adhered to. The successful candidate will also be involved with the monthly management accounts. Working at St. Mary’s is an extraordinary opportunity.  Our Surveys this year showed that 96% of staff enjoy their work at St Marys, 97% agree that leaders do all they can to ensure a motivated and respected staff, 100% of students enjoy their learning and believe that behaviour around the school is good, and 97% of parents would recommend St. Mary’s to other parents.  We are passionately committed to developing staff and managing workload to ensure that colleagues enjoy their work and recognise St. Mary’s as an almost-uniquely positive place to teach and enjoy their careers.

Added to this, the school is also at an extremely exciting juncture in its future.  Demand is high, and owing to intense oversubscription, we are 3 years through expansion to 6FE.  We have also won over £5.3m in capital bids in the last 3 years and are enjoying brand new cutting edge facilities as a result.  The school faces an extremely strong and positive financial future.

Our previous OFSTED inspection judged us as Outstanding in every category, and our most recent S48 Inspection (2018) also judged us as Outstanding in every area.  Over the last 4 years, exam results have risen at both GCSE & A Level.  The ‘Progress 8’ score for 2018 was +0.61, which puts the school in the top 10% in the country.  At A Level the proportion of A*-B Grades as well as students enrolling at elite Russell Group Universities has risen significantly over each of the last 4 years with 2018 breaking all school records.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  A DBS disclosure is required for all successful applicants.  St Mary’s is committed to the equality of opportunity for all applicants, and we reserve the right to interview on a rolling basis, therefore an early application is advisable.

Closing date: 31st August 2021

Apply in writing using the forms available on our website www.stmarys.net: Support Staff Application Form, Consent to Obtain References Form, Rehabilitation of Offenders Form & Recruitment Monitoring Form.  Applicants are reminded that they should read the Notes to Applicants before completing an application. Welcome

St. Mary’s has a strong tradition of providing an authentic education which aims to deliver excellence for every member of our Catholic community. It is our mission to build on that tradition as we develop the school still further over the years ahead.

Our school is built upon an ambitious mission for each and every young person: to fulfil academic potential; to be fully developed in the personal, social and spiritual areas of life; to achieve excellence in every area of life; and to be underpinned by Gospel Values, enabling each person to value individuals and contribute positively to society. We work in partnership with parents and the wider community to ensure that this mission is accomplished in the lives of all our young people, and in so doing, enable those young people to live life to the full.

The aims of the school are:

• the formation of our young people according to Gospel values;
• the fulfilment of the potential of our pupils in all aspects of the curriculum;
• the personal, social and spiritual development of our pupils into responsible, generous and caring members of society;
• the achievement of all these within a culture of respect and appreciation for the worth and contribution of each member of our school and its wider community.

In 1896, five Sisters from the Belgian congregation of St Mary of Namur came to Bishop's Stortford and established a school with just 9 students.  These pioneering Sisters were the first to provide Catholic education for the district, and the school rapidly became a success. Their legacy is St Mary’s Catholic School, and as we look to the future with high expectations for continued success, their vision continues to inspire us. This is expressed in our aspiration towards academic excellence founded on Gospel values. In practical terms this also means the best possible pastoral care and guidance and the challenge and support of a broad range of spiritual opportunities which permeate through all aspects of school life.
