About Star Virtual Teachers

A Star Virtual Teacher will be employed by our Trust to deliver lessons remotely to pupils in a Star school (or across Star schools). They may be covering for a short-term absence or a long-term vacancy. Supported by an assistant in the classroom, the Virtual Teacher will deliver lessons to pupils aiming for Grades 9-6 and ensure that their learning is not disrupted.

Star Virtual Teachers will:

• Be able to work from home full-time.

• Be equipped with the IT resources and receive training to be able to deliver successful lessons virtually.

• Teach a reduced timetable, focusing particularly on upper sets in Years 9, 10 and 11.

• Deliver a Year 11 intervention class each week.

• Deliver tuition remotely to pupils striving to secure a higher grade.

• Have opportunities for professional development so that they may progress to leadership positions within our schools and Central Office.


Who we’re looking for

Star is looking for exceptional Maths teachers to join its central team to deliver high quality lessons virtually to our pupils.

Successful candidates will have the ability to deliver high quality teaching remotely that drives achievement in Maths. You will be able to demonstrate experience of achieving positive outcomes for pupils, along with strong subject knowledge, and evident passion to make a difference to the lives of young people. As a committed team player, you will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to motivate and engage pupils.


You will:

  • Have a degree-level qualification at 2.1 or higher in your subject and qualified teacher status (QTS).
  • Demonstrate a track record of the sustained delivery of high attainment and achievement in your subject at Key Stage 4 (GCSE or A Level).
  • Have excellent IT skills to deliver learning remotely.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Be able to engage and enthuse pupils.
  • Have a strong commitment to the STAR values.
